Take a reboot break!

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

Another month gone and it’s hard to believe we’re half way through this year already!

With the bank holidays and half term, May always appears to be a shorter month from a business perspective, so from that respect I’m glad it’s over.

Looking ahead, July is going to be an exciting month with a couple of events now agreed on 4th and 5th July with Business South, Nat West and Tate Recruitment, where I’ll be running workshops for their own clients covering leadership, motivation and employee engagement.  It’s more exposure for what I do and I get to meet with lots of interesting people so I’m looking forward to that. I estimate presenting to over 150 business owners

If you’re heading off on holiday before the summer holiday rush next month, then I hope you have a relaxing and enjoyable time! It’s important to take time out; it’s easy for business owners to get so absorbed into the business that they forget!  I’m certainly looking forward to taking a break soon!

There was an interesting article posted on Entrepreneur.com a couple of years back and it probably resonates with a lot of people.  Many of us work long hours but the truth is, this pace of work isn’t sustainable and we can actually become unproductive.

So what’s the solution? According to Catherine Allen, Nancy Bearg, Rita Foley and Jaye Smith, the co-authors of Reboot Your Life: Energize Your Career & Life by Taking a Break., the answer is to take a sabbatical or what they refer to as a reboot break: “Taking time out from work to reboot your life is not just a new and enduring trend; it’s a necessity in our stress-ridden world.”

It’s not always easy when it’s your own business, but there are some useful tips in the article which may just help.
